Loral Space and Communications Inc. emerged from a 2003 bankruptcy on November 21, 2005. When Loral emerged from bankruptcy, it found itself in a fiercely competitive growth industry with limited capital structure and a business plan that called for zero growth. Moreover, its two primary subsidiaries, Space Systems/Loral Inc. and Loral Skynet Corporation (SkyNet), had significant near term capital requirements.
